How Spiritual Care Helped One Resident Rediscover Her Faith

Sometimes the most meaningful moments happen in unexpected ways.

Recently, a resident at Park View Care Center shared that she had been disconnected from her faith and church community for more than 50 years. Through the support of our chaplains and the ongoing Spiritual Care offered at Park View, she began reflecting on her relationship with God.

One day, she shared a simple but powerful thought:

“I think God is calling me back.”

Our chaplains agreed and walked alongside her as she explored that feeling and renewed her faith journey.

Not long afterward, she made an exciting request. She wanted to be baptized.

Friends, residents, and staff gathered in the chapel to celebrate this special milestone. The room was filled with joy, encouragement, and gratitude.

Her faith tradition typically practices baptism by immersion. With a smile, one of our chaplains even joked that he would take her down to the lake if needed. She chose baptism by sprinkling, allowing her to comfortably participate while honoring the meaning of the sacrament.

It was a beautiful reminder that meeting people where they are can make all the difference.

At Park View, Spiritual Care is an important part of the support we provide across our community. Whether someone lives in assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing short-term rehabilitation, or long-term skilled nursing care, we believe nurturing the spirit is just as important as caring for the body and mind.

For many residents and families, faith, purpose, and connection bring comfort during every stage of life, including transitions that may involve hospice care.

This baptism was more than a ceremony. It was a celebration of faith rediscovered, community support, and the life-changing impact of compassionate care.

Moments like these are one of the many reasons families choose senior living communities like Park View.
